Ending Traffic Accidents

LENS
LENS’s mission is to end traffic accidents. Like so much of what we’re seeing now with AI, something that once seemed impossible is now suddenly on its way to becoming a reality that is impacting all of our lives.
LENS started from the core belief that almost all traffic accidents occur because of factors that could have been prevented. When the root cause of an accident can be known in advance, it can and should be prevented.
LENS is able to detect “pre-accidents,” which means that accidents can now be prevented before they occur. This is how LENS is already helping to save lives.
Public Safety Officers, like the state highway patrol, use LENS to continuously scan existing CCTV video feeds to automatically detect “pre-accidents”. These pre-accidents range from “Disabled Vehicles” to “Objects in the Road,” as well as “Pedestrians on the Freeway,” and more. Without LENS, one in fifty Disabled Vehicles results in an accident, which in total accounts for one of every 100 lives lost on the roads. With LENS, Public Safety Agencies are now instantly alerted about disabled vehicles, allowing them to immediately dispatch an officer and assist drivers before anyone gets hit.
While AI will never, and should never be like Minority Report, with three “pre-cogs” floating in a tank to identify “pre-crime,” Specific AI has already started saving lives by identifying “pre-accidents” to assist Public Safety Officers in preventing accidents before they occur.
Preventers: Those That Want to Prevent Accidents
Ending traffic accidents is something we all have wanted, but it has never seemed attainable. That is no longer the case. With AI people’s imaginations have broadened and Specific AI has created never-before-seen capabilities. Public Safety Officers are already saving one life every ten days. More and more people are witnessing accidents being prevented and lives being saved, and have started lending their voices to this belief, and creating an entirely new level of energy around this mission.
Ending traffic accidents is a big mission. It is so big that there is no way a single organization will be able to provide the specific intelligence and tools for all Public Safety Officers — it will be a community effort, a community of Preventers. Today Public Safety Officers are advancing the LENS mission, already saving one life every ten days. We believe in the next year it will be one life saved every single day. We also believe that as others see the power of Specific AI to prevent harm on the road, they will be inspired to find new ways to contribute to preventing accidents.

Pre-accident detection before an accident occurs
Public Safety Officers, Dispatchers, and transportation departments are the ones with boots on the ground preventing accidents and saving lives. At the same time, the energy and the intensity of the electric current they feel is getting more powerful everyday because of those who both believe in prevention, and are willing to express that belief.
Those that want to prevent accidents all share the common feeling that some, and Preventers share the common feeling that some, and probably most, accidents could be prevented. When asked about this deeply held, deeply rooted feeling & belief, Preventers can recall a near miss or accident — that involved either themselves or someone close to them. Preventers know in their gut that the conventional wisdom that drivers cause almost all crashes just isn’t the case. Preventers know that once LENS is used to address the root cause of an accident, those types of accidents no longer need to occur.
Ending Traffic Accidents Together
Every one of us who feels this way seeks transformational change. We don’t believe things are the best they can be, or that they cannot keep getting better. We believe in the power of continually evolving our approach, strategy, and what we do. It is this mindset that drives the transformational change we all seek, and the reason we see those who want to prevent as special. It is the reason, we believe, that together we will end traffic accidents.
